Western Confernece Champioship
Well where do I start. The Mavs and Thunder played in the first game of the 2011 Western Conference Finals. Coming in to the game the Mavs had an edge because of the 4 game sweep of the Lakers while the Thunder had gone into a 7-game series with the Grizzlies. In the first half, the game was pretty even with the Mavs having a 7 point lead over the Thunder. Dirk had 21 points while Durant had 17. The second half was when the mavs started to pull away. During this run, Dirk went 17-17 on free throws. Dirk had either got the Thunder players in foul trouble or shot over them. In the fourth quarter the Thunder started to make a run though with Kevin Durant hitting his normal shots and Russel Westbrook, who had not played well in the first 3 quarters, started making his layups. But this run was quickly stopped by Dirk nailing his amazing fade aways, and the JET hitting a few threes. An interesting fact about this game was that Dirk broke the record for most free throws made in a row in a playoff game with 22 free throws. The mavs ended up winning the game 121-112.
